M&A Expert | Market Analysis

Asaf Ravkaie

Helping businesses is my passion.

Bringing creativity in the right place and time.

Especially as part of organic growth or mergers and acquisitions.

The product of my work provides security.

A green light that a transaction can be completed .As well as red lights.

During the process - in most cases there are complexities. And they have to be solved.

The hard work is to find the right balance between needs and desires. Such as the balance between parties to the transaction that I am accompanying.

In almost every deal there is the moment. On the brink of explosion. A lot of stress.

At this point, I try to bring a rational aspect.

Summarize the differences to 3 points.

Usually it works.

At the beginning of my professional path, I believed especially in the mathematics of economics.

This is what the Tel Aviv University School of Economics taught us. The Chicago Approach.

At the graduate degree in Economics, I was thrilled when Prof. Amnon Rubinstein gave me his book in game theory as a gift in recognition of my achievements.

And I went on to my doctorate.

My thesis and research proposal was:

Deterring Entry through Quality Distortion – A Model of Incomplete Information

At the point where I stopped believing that maths can solve almost everything, I also stopped my doctorate.

Then I fell in love with the unexplained complexity of the business environment‏.

BDO was a wonderful place to realize this love.

For 10 years I was a partner in BDO.

Being a consultant at critical intersections of business was not a simple challenge.

But in places where I contributed significantly to business moves like mergers and acquisitions, entry into Israel by leading international companies - and they succeeded - the satisfaction was huge!

Among the complicated business processes I accompanied during this period were -

  • Daweoo International - Entry to Israel and establishment of a natural gas power station.
  • The Nawi Brothers Group - Entry to the Israeli Stock Exchange.
  • IKEA - opening a store.
  • Sunpower - Entry into Israel, construction and sale of 2 solar projects.
  • Share and Bond Issuance on the stock exchange - Shaniv Industries, Solcon Industries
  • Enercon Technologies - Acquisition by Fortissimo Fund. Due diligence and transaction accompaniment.

After ten years I decided to retire from BDO.

Working in a large organization has many advantages. But it was time to move on.

In recent years I have been an independent consultant.

Accompanying entities such as The Phoenix and Fortissimo Fund in mergers and acquisitions and also start-ups at raising capital.

And providing economic opinions in litigation proceedings.

These are my focus areas.

I also carried out jobs in the fields of economics and finance for the Israeli Government, the Companies Authority and the Ministry of Communications, including an assessment of the optimal capital structure of the governmental companies and advice on the 5G frequency tender for cellular operators.

Happily married to Alla, and father to Lior and Ofir.
